Respiration

It can be helpful to focus on anti-inflammatory foods (see Skin Nourishing as well as Digestive Support) to support Respiratory Health. It may seem surprising but there is a significant link between digestive health and respiratory health. There are also certain foods that can be helpful for reducing/helping with respiratory problems such as thyme and garlic. Reducing dairy foods during coughs and coldscan be helpful as they may increase mucus production.

BOOST: Oily fish, garlic, wholegrain rice, oats, dried fruit, peppers, green leafy vegetables, bananas, nuts and seeds, wholegrain rice, egg yolk, bananas and dark chocolate.

Thyme has a long history of use for coughs and helps to clear mucus. Add 1-2g of fresh thyme to hot water and drink several times a day. Add thyme liberally to your cooking.

Honey has a soothing effect on the throat and can be helpful to reduce coughing.

AVOID: Dairy foods (milk, cheese, cream, ice cream, yogurt) and GMO soy, whole eggs (if relevant), shellfish, peanuts.
